Twitter: head of cryptocurrency department resigns

Amid the impressive wave of departures at Twitter, the head of the crypto division, Tess Rinearson, has also resigned.

Twitter sees strategic resignation in its crypto department

Tess Rinearson announced on Friday that she has resigned from her position as head of Twitter’s cryptocurrency department. She joins the ranks of the many people who have, by choice or not, jumped ship since Elon Musk took over the social network.

Initially, Tess Rinearson tweeted a greeting emoji followed by a blue heart to signify her departure, and then expressed pride in her time at the company since joining in October 2021:

“I’m very proud of everything the crypto team has started on Twitter, and I’m sad, because I won’t see the end of it. “

Before joining Twitter, Tess Rinearson helped build the Cosmos ecosystem, through a two-year stint at Interchain Foundation, as vice head of the engineering team. She is also on the board of Interchain Foundation and Mina Protocol.

Severely shrinking workforce

Tess Rinearson’s resignation is not an isolated case. And for good reason, the social network has been experiencing a real brain drain since Elon Musk indicated that remaining staff would either have to commit to “long, high-intensity hours or take a severance package and leave.

Such is the haemorrhage from the new CEO’s management that he has reversed some of the restrictions he imposed, such as the ban on working from home. These numerous departures have fuelled rumours of a possible shutdown of the platform due to a lack of maintenance staff.

Among these departures, we can also note that of Damien Viel, now ex-general manager of Twitter France :

While Elon Musk has overcome many challenges in his entrepreneurial career, restarting Twitter’s growth after such events may prove particularly difficult.
