Ticketmaster releases features for NFT holders only

by Thomas

No NFT, no ticket? Ticketmaster has just started using features linked to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for certain reservations. A model that could be democratized in the future

Tickemaster offers benefits for NFTs holders

Ticketmaster announced yesterday the launch of these new features. They were first offered for fans of the metal band Avenged Sevenfold, via its own collection of NFTs. Fans of the band who have at least one NFT from the Deathbats club collection have been offered early access to tickets for two concerts in New York and Los Angeles.

A total of 1,000 tickets have already been sold in this way, according to singer Matt Sanders – better known as Mr. Shadows. He also explained that this allowed fans to avoid some inconvenience associated with booking tickets:

“Yes, we have integrated the Deathbats club into Ticketmaster, to allow fans to get the best tickets at the best prices by avoiding bots, scalpers and long lines. “

The prices of the NFTs in the collection have risen sharply after the announcement of these new booking methods. They currently reach a floor price of $175.

New ways to create fan communities

For music acts testing NFTs-related features, these are new ways to connect with their audiences, and reward their fans’ loyalty. Ticketmaster Executive Vice President David Marcus confirmed that this is a first initiative that will be recreated with other bands:

“This new feature allows artists to distribute preferred access and rewards to specific fans they particularly want to serve. “

This follows another initiative proposed last August, which allowed bands to launch their own collections of NFTs on the Flow blockchain.

These initiatives, however, sometimes face resistance from fans unaccustomed to this type of functionality. As Mr. Shadows points out, it is therefore as much a work of education to the benefits of the blockchain, and he hopes that other bands will follow the example of Avenged Sevenfold.
