Snoop Dogg and Eminem release a new track with a video featuring their Bored Ape Yatch Club (BAYC) NFTs. The song called “From The D 2 The LBC” was premiered last week at ApeFest 2022 in New York City.
Snoop Dogg and Eminem give BAYC a showcase
Famous rappers Snoop Dogg and Eminem have released a new track, the video for which features two of their non-fungible tokens (NFT) from the Bored Ape Yatch Club (BAYC). The video starts with the two singers in a recording studio and then they are gradually transformed into Bored Ape.
In addition to the explicit nature of the lyrics and video, it is clear that these Bored Apes are an integral part of the video and are more than just winks. The track, called “From The D 2 The LBC”, was presented on the sidelines of ApeFest 2022 :
The ApeFest was held in New York from 20 to 23 June. This festival was reserved for owners of a Bored Ape or an NFT from the Mutant Ape Yatch Club (MAYC) collection. The event hosted concerts every day. Snoop Dogg and Eminem were part of the line-up, but Lil Wayne, for example, was also present. Private parties and shops featuring the collections were also part of the event.
World-class marketing
Snoop Dogg and Eminem’s video is a great way to showcase BAYC and, by extension, Yuga Labs, the studio behind the collection. The latter is mentioned in the credits at the end of the video.
At the time of writing, ‘From The D 2 The LBC’ has already garnered 8.4 million views on YouTube and 2.6 million listens on Spotify.
While it’s obviously a nice surprise to see NFTs featured in this way, Snoop Dogg and Eminem’s interest in them was already known. On December 30th, the Detroit rapper spent $452,000 to buy the Bored Ape 9055 featured in the video.
Snoop Dogg, on the other hand, is literally a fan of NFT. An official address for the singer, known as Cozomo de Medici, lists 842 NFTs according to OpenSea.
This news shows that month after month, non-fungible tokens are becoming part of popular culture. Thus, the reach of successful collections with real added value goes far beyond the JPEG and crypto aspect and federates a real community.
