Metal band Slipknot partners with The Sandbox (SAND) to create a musical metaverse

The Sandbox (SAND) just doesn’t stop. The French blockchain game has announced a partnership with the very famous and enigmatic metal band Slipknot to create Knotverse, a metaverse around the universe of the musical collective that will host the Knotfest concert.

Slipknot lands in The Sandbox

Not a week goes by without The Sandbox (SAND) announcing a new partnership. After the banking giant HSBC, then the French unicorn Ledger, it is the turn of the metal band Slipknot to join the successful metaverse. The announcement, entitled “Are you ready to rock?”, was made official on Twitter on Tuesday:

This partnership includes both Slipknot and Knotfest, one of the biggest heavy metal festivals the band organises. It involves the creation of the Knotverse, a home for bringing fans together for unique Web 3.0 experiences and “creating a unique meeting place.

The “most enigmatic, provocative and aggressive music collective of the modern era” plans to exploit its virtual plot in The Sandbox to offer heavy culture fans unique access to their new music, special events and merchandise, gear, masks and more.

Of course, Slipknot is also expected to launch several collections of unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs) associated with key elements of the band’s history or heavy metal culture.

Knotverse will of course be linked to Knotfest, Slipknot’s iconic media site and music festival. The partnership will also see an edition of Knotfest hosted directly in The Sandbox metaverse.

The virtual terrain plot will inherit the event’s dark and immersive theme and incorporate over 20 years of Slipknot imagery and references authentically recreated in The Sandbox, as Shawn “Clown” Crahan, one of the band’s founding members, explains:

“Anyone who has ever attended Knotfest, or wanted to, now has the opportunity to step into a digital version of the experience in The Sandbox, live 24/7. “

This is not Slipknot’s first experiment with the Web 3.0 world. In November 2021, the band launched a mysterious website called The Chapeltown Rag, a marketplace for purchasing NFTs of nine unreleased songs.

According to rumours, Slipknot’s new album should be released by mid-2022. It could be that this partnership with The Sandbox is the beginning of a bigger event to reveal the songs to the public in a totally unexpected way.
