Judge Jones denies Changpeng Zhao’s new request to travel outside the United States

At the beginning of December, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) was denied a request to travel to the United Arab Emirates, despite having just paid $175 million in bail.

After this initial setback, CZ tried its luck again on Wednesday with a request addressed to Judge Richard A. Jones. According to a document filed by his legal team, the reason for the trip has been sealed, as it contains “sensitive private medical information concerning Mr. Zhao’s child”.

According to Bloomberg, prosecutors had opposed the first request to travel to the United Arab Emirates due to the absence of an extradition treaty with the United States.

Following this latest refusal, Changpeng Zhao looks set to wait until next February, when he will be sentenced for his involvement in Binance’s alleged violation of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

In addition, Binance’s founder has been silent on his networks for three weeks now. In a message published on X on December 9, he expressed his intention to stay away for a while:
