Ether (ETH) and Dogecoin (DOGE) are among the most searched words on Google in 2021. Driven by Elon Musk’s statements, Dogecoin has attracted the interest of internet users worldwide. At the same time, Internet users were very interested in the evolution of the price of Ether during the bull run.
Dogecoin (DOGE) is the 4th most searched term on Google in 2021 worldwide
True to form, Google has just published the list of the most searched terms on its search engine in 2021. As always, the Mountain View giant breaks down the results into different categories, including news, TV series, actors and sports teams.
In the category devoted to news from around the world, there are two cryptocurrencies: Ether (ETH) and Dogecoin (DOGE). Last year, there were no digital currencies in this ranking.

The fourth place in the top 10 published by Google is indeed occupied by Dogecoin, one of the most popular meme coins of the year. The token made it into both the US and global top 10.
Born out of a joke in 2013, the cryptocurrency has benefited greatly from the tweets of Elon Musk, the whimsical founder of Tesla, to increase its popularity. The billionaire, considered one of the world’s richest men, has mentioned Dogecoin several times on his Twitter account.
Musk’s statements (who momentarily renamed himself “Dogefather”) have repeatedly given the digital currency’s price a boost.
This year, Elon Musk has notably estimated that Dogecoin, once upgraded, could surpass some of the limitations experienced by the Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) networks. The entrepreneur has also pledged to send Dogecoin to the moon.
In a challenge from BitMEX, Elon Musk will send a mission called Doge-1 to the moon through his aerospace firm SpaceX. The mission, funded entirely by Dogecoin, is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of next year.
The price of Ether (ETH) was of great interest to internet users in 2021
Ether (ETH) was the tenth most searched news term on Google worldwide and in the US. The keywords “Ethereum Price” were heavily searched for throughout the year to see the price of Ether.
A peak was recorded in the middle of May this year, when the cryptocurrency’s price hit a new record high of over $4,000 as part of the bull run.

It’s worth noting that Bitcoin (BTC) is not among the most searched keywords on Google worldwide.
The queen of cryptocurrencies is however the second most searched word in France in the news and information category, just behind “Afghanistan”. The peak of searches was recorded last May, when the price of Bitcoin was close to $60,000.
