The German first division football club TSG Hoffenheim has signed a partnership deal with Baby Doge Coin, another cryptocurrency riding the wave of Dogecoin (DOGE). Will we see the players wearing the Baby Doge logo on their jerseys next season
Baby Doge gets a Bundesliga club
No, you’re not dreaming! TSG Hoffenheim, a historic football club playing in the German first division, has teamed up with Baby Doge Coin. If you didn’t know, it’s one of the many memecoin (i.e. joke-based cryptocurrencies) derived from Dogecoin (DOGE) and created for the sole purpose of replicating its staggering growth.

In its official statement, Hoffenheim explains that the partnership with what it calls “one of the leading cryptocurrencies” includes the development of non-fungible tokens (NFT). The partnership also includes promotional materials such as pitch-side billboards at home games and TV campaigns.
TSG Hoffenheim is pleased to be working with such an innovative and leading brand as Baby Doge. We are excited and look forward to a successful partnership, where we will bring to life a club NFT collection and other exciting projects,” said Denni Strich, CEO of TSG.

Memecoins take on the world
This collaboration may seem surprising, even confusing. While TSG Hoffenheim is one of the oldest German football clubs and was founded in 1899, the Baby Doge Coin was born during the year 2021.
At the time of writing, the BabyDoge is capitalised at $625 million. A portion of the project’s proceeds is donated to animal welfare organizations.
“We are working to expand our global reach as a community-focused project, as well as form strategic partnerships with world-class organisations […] and allow Baby Doge to showcase our benefits and establish itself as a player in the world of sports,” explained Mike Watson, Baby Doge’s project manager.
This is not the first memecoin to position itself for serious partnerships. Earlier in 2021, another cryptocurrency that emerged during the Dogecoin explosion, Floki Inu, managed to conquer large-scale clubs. First, by partnering with ten-time Russian top flight champions Spartak Moscow, and then with Italy’s historic Serie A club Napoli.
