Samsung is set to showcase its new range of luxury smartphones in the Decentraland metaverse (MANA). The phone market leader will unveil its new products, the much-anticipated Galaxy S22, in the virtual ephemeral shop opened a few weeks ago.

Samsung will showcase its new phones at its virtual shop in Decentraland (MANA)

In a tweet published on February 5, 2022, Samsung, the world’s number one mobile phone company, announced its intention to present its new smartphones in the metaverse of Decentraland (MANA). The brand’s publication is deliberately mysterious and simply mentions Samsung’s virtual world and the date of 9 February 2022.

This Wednesday, the South Korean giant plans to present the Galaxy S22, a new range of flagship smartphones, at an online conference. The firm had recently confirmed the phones’ arrival by sending out the requisite invitations to the press. So there’s no doubt about the theme of this virtual event.

For the first time, Samsung will not only broadcast the presentation live on its YouTube channel, social networks and website. The event will also take place in Samsung’s virtual shop in Decentraland, the 837X.

At the beginning of January, the manufacturer opened a virtual shop inspired by its real physical shop located at 837 Washington Street in New York. By logging on to this digital space, Internet users will probably be able to follow the presentation of the S22s live. This is a major event in the world of technology and mobile phones.

At the event, users can “enter the shop and immerse themselves in the 837X” through their avatar. On its website, Samsung states that the virtual shop offers exclusive collections of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It is not known if any Galaxy S22-related digital artworks will be launched at this time.

A few weeks ago, the firm had already revealed its interest in non-fungible tokens at the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas. In front of the press, Samsung announced the integration of NFTs into its future TV sets. The brand has developed a platform to buy, store and display digital works on its TVs

Brands flock to the metaverse

Samsung isn’t the only world-famous brand to jump into the metaverse. Recently, Carrefour bought a virtual plot in The Sandbox (SAND) universe. Shortly before the French retailer, Warner Music entered the metaverse by launching the first digital music universe.

Some brands have also shown an interest in virtual worlds, but have not yet taken the plunge. This is the case of Apple, the first company to surpass 3,000 billion in market value. The Silicon Valley giant has officially expressed an interest in the metaverse
