Bitstamp platform enters into partnership with esport team Immortals

by Patricia

The US esport team Immortals has unveiled a partnership with cryptocurrency exchange platform Bitstamp. The collaboration will be split across 3 projects at once with the goal of driving cryptocurrency adoption while rewarding fans.

Immortals takes another step towards cryptocurrencies

The video game industry continues to attract companies from the cryptocurrency and blockchain world. This time, it’s the Immortals team that has forged a three-year partnership with cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform Bitstamp, it has been revealed via a release.

This will be the second association with an organisation operating in the blockchain sector for Immortals, as they currently enjoy a partnership with Fetch.ai, a company specialising in artificial intelligence for decentralised finance.

As for Bitstamp, this is their second collaboration with an esport team. Just three weeks ago, Bitstamp signed a three-year contract with Guild Esports for $4.5 million, allowing them to integrate their logo and branding into the team’s headquarters.

A partnership to reward fans

The amount of the contract has not been disclosed, but we already know that the agreement will revolve around 3 main areas.

Firstly, a team of content creators will be created to promote cryptocurrencies through streams and giveaways to viewers. They will operate as ambassadors for Bitstamp and Immortals on the multiplayer shooter Valorant, developed by Riot Games.

Next, a project is planned to be deployed during the 2022 League of Legends World Championship, the popular game also developed by Riot Games. This will include physical events, vlogs and other content.

Finally, the partners also announced the “LCS Trigger Program”, a reward program for League of Legends World Championship viewers. For example, if Immortals scores the first point, called “first blood,” Bitstamp will allow fans to earn cryptocurrencies.

“It is a priority for us as an organisation to live up to our community and provide them with quality content through innovative partnerships like the one with Bitstamp, the world’s oldest cryptocurrency exchange platform. This partnership will further enhance the Immortals fan experience through real and tangible benefits that will connect the worlds of cryptocurrencies and gaming,” said Jordan Sherman, CEO of Immortals.

A formula that works

The esport world seems to be a great partner for the various organisations in the blockchain world.

Already last year, cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform FTX unveiled a $210 million multi-year deal with Team SoloMid (TSM). Just two months later, it announced a seven-year collaboration to appear during broadcasts of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the game’s biggest tournament in North America.

But the big platforms are not isolated cases: since the beginning of the year, many partnerships have emerged in the industry, especially to develop non-fungible tokens (NFTs), such as the latest one between 100 Thieves and the Polygon (MATIC) sidechain, or the one between the G2 Esports team and the Solana (SOL) blockchain.
