Bernard Arnault, the richest man in the world, owns non-fungible tokens (NFT)

Bernard Arnault seems confident in the future of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), despite his earlier statements. His former adviser has revealed that he owns a collection of NFTs, and his sons have also embraced the world of NFTs. In addition, the LVMH group has partnered with several brands to offer blockchain-based projects in the past.

Bernard Arnault confident in the future of NFTs?

Bernard Arnault, who became the richest man in the world this year, taking Elon Musk’s place, reportedly owns a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, who said in January 2022 that he was “not interested in €10 pairs of virtual trainers”, seems to have changed his mind.

Ian Rogers, Bernard Arnault’s former advisor who became Chief Experience Officer at Ledger in 2020, dropped the news on the American podcast Aarthi and Sriram. The host asks:

“Are you telling me that Bernard Arnault has a portfolio and may be buying NFTs that we don’t know about? “

To which Ian Rogers replies:

“There’s no doubt about it. He showed me, of his own accord, his OpenSea page. Which means he had to get out his phone, find it and show it to me. So, yes. “

Bernard Arnault, who also said a few years ago that NFTs were a passing bubble, did not, however, deny their potential interest and revealed that their concept was “stimulating. “

The LVMH empire is already rooted in NFTs

It will be remembered that in 2021, the LVMH group teamed up with Italian luxury house Prada and Cartier to issue a blockchain-based authenticity label called “Aura Blockchain”. A few months later, Louis Vuitton launched its mobile game “Louis: The Game” to win NFTs.

In early 2022, Fendi (also part of the LVMH group) took a step into Web3 by teaming up with Ledger to dress up its eponymous wallets. But it was above all Bernard Arnault’s sons, Frédéric and Alexandre Arnault, who really decided to embrace the world of non-fungible tokens, as evidenced by their profile illustrations on Twitter:

Frédéric Arnault, CEO of Swiss luxury watch brand Tag Hauer, has launched “Tag Hauer Connected” later this year (2022), an app that allows owners of certain Tag Hauer watches to display their own NFTs on the dial.

Alexandre Arnault, meanwhile, has been executive vice-president of jewellery company Tiffany & Co. since 2022. In August of the same year, he decided to create a partnership between the brand and the flagship CryptoPunks collection via 250 unique pendants reserved for holders of these NFTs.
