Known for her pro-Bitcoin stance in the US Congress, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis will not seek re-election. Why has she made this decision?
Cynthia Lummis will not seek another term as senator
Within the crypto ecosystem, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis is known for bringing the voice of Bitcoin (BTC) to government bodies. Her most notable achievement is probably the introduction of the bill on the famous strategic reserve of bitcoins in the United States.
In office since January 3, 2021, Cynthia Lummis announced on Friday that she would not be running for re-election, highlighting the energy required for such a position:
Deciding not to run for reelection is a change of heart for me, but during the difficult and exhausting weeks of this fall’s session, I came to accept that I don’t have six more years in me. I am a dedicated legislator, but I feel like a sprinter in a marathon. The energy required is not there.
Before becoming a senator, Cynthia Lummis was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014, and to the Wyoming House of Representatives in 1979.
Now 71 years old, she will leave her post in January 2027. For the time being, she does not seem to have specified whether she intends to enjoy her retirement or continue her career.
