The team behind blockchain explorer Etherscan has launched Blockscan Chat, a secure Web3 instant messaging app that allows users to communicate wallet-to-wallet. Available on the App Store and Google Play, the free app allows users to start conversations with other wallets compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

Blockscan Chat lands on the App Store and Googe Play

Blockscan, a side project from the team behind the popular blockchain explorer Etherscan, has unveiled Blockscan Chat, a secure Web3 instant messaging application for wallet-to-wallet communication.

Already available on the App Store and Google Play, Blockscan Chat can be accessed free of charge by linking it to your usual wallet (MetaMask or via WalletConnect, for example). You can then start a conversation with any wallet, as long as it is adapted to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)

Among the possible uses of Blockscan Chat, Etherscan’s press release mentions the possibility of trading non-fungible tokens (NFT), sending alerts or notifications to its community, and connecting to other people at Ethereum-related events (ETH). It should also be noted that there is no charge whatsoever for sending messages, which are transmitted off-chain.

According to the Blockscan Chat FAQ, messages sent are fully encrypted, except those from addresses holding an API key or linked to a multi-signature Safe wallet. Among its secondary functions, Blockscan Chat lets you block other users. As the application is still in beta phase, the number of conversations is currently limited to 50 per address.

According to the press release, from tomorrow it will be possible to interact with a bot directly from the Blockscan Chat application in order to earn ETH on the Ethereum testnet.
