Terra (LUNA): Do Kwon was arrested in Montenegro, according to the country’s interior minister

by Thomas

Do Kwon was reportedly arrested at Podgorica airport with fake identity documents, according to Montenegro’s interior minister. It is difficult to determine what will happen next, as Montenegro does not have an extradition agreement with South Korea. However, Do Kwon should still be brought to justice, as he is the subject of a red notice by Interpol.

End of the road for Do Kwon

According to the Minister of Interior of Montenegro, Do Kwon was arrested at the airport in Podgorica, the capital of the country, with falsified identity documents. The minister says that a “final confirmation” of identity must be made.

” […] Montenegrin police have arrested a person suspected of being one of the most wanted fugitives, South Korean citizen Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based Terraform Labs. The former “cryptocurrency king”, who is responsible for losses exceeding $40 billion, was arrested at Podgorica airport with forged documents, and is wanted by South Korea, the United States and Singapore. We are waiting for official confirmation of his identity. “

Do Kwon is wanted internationally, as he is the subject of a red notice issued by Interpol, an arrest warrant in South Korea, and a class action lawsuit in the United States, among others.

According to the latest news, the founder of Terra had fled to Serbia at the end of last year, according to the South Korean authorities. This information appears to be true, as Serbia is a neighboring country to Montenegro, and the territories are both located on the Balkan Peninsula in Southern Europe.

However, no extradition agreement currently exists between Serbia and South Korea, which must have been the reason for Do Kwon’s choice of destination. Montenegro does not have an extradition agreement either, but has already complied with extradition requests for U.S. nationals.

LUNA’s share price was only slightly affected, initially falling and then almost recovering to its initial value.
