Robinhood’s Web3 wallet is now available on iOS

After several months in beta version reserved for a few users, Robinhood makes its cryptocurrency wallet available to all Apple users. The wallet will be available on Android in a second phase.

Robinhood’s wallet is open to all Apple users

Robinhood has announced that its wallet is now available to all iOS users worldwide. The wallet had been introduced in the spring of 2022, and had previously only been open in beta to a few users who had managed to secure a spot via the waitlist.

For Android smartphone owners, you’ll have to wait a little longer, as the wallet will be rolled out “later this year”, although early access will be possible, again via a waitlist. However, no concrete date has yet been revealed.

Furthermore, there is no web browser extension to date. Nevertheless, the company says that the development of a full-fledged ‘Web3 browser’ is on the agenda, and should be released ‘in the coming months’.

For a limited time, investors making a transfer to their wallet address from Robinhood’s centralised platform will receive up to five USDC for any deposit of ten dollars or more. For a deposit from an external address, this reward will be one USDC.

Robinhood’s wallet is a self-hosted wallet, like MetaMask, which means that the user is responsible for their private key.

At the time of writing, only Polygon (MATIC) and Ethereum (ETH) are available on the application. Regarding Polygon, the transaction fees are, for the moment, supported by Robinhood. On the other hand, the wallet supports 50 ERC-20 tokens, but also non-fungible tokens (NFT), on which it can offer a visual:

Johann Kerbrat, CEO of Robinhood Crypto, was pleased with the initial feedback on the wallet:

The feedback we have received for Robinhood Wallet since the first beta launch has been extremely positive. Users have told us that they like the accessibility and ease of use of the app […]. “

As for Robinhood Group’s stock, it is currently trading at $9.73 a share, bringing its market capitalisation to $8.56 billion. While the stock has been trading in a range of $7 to $13 for nearly a year, its price has fallen more than 88% since its previous all-time high (ATH), reached during its second week of trading in July 2021.
