Renault unveils a 2nd NFT drop with commemorative pairs of physical sneakers

Following the success of its first collection, Renault is launching a new drop of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with a limited edition of 960 pairs of physical sneakers associated with 2 NFTs: a digital duplicate and a certificate of authenticity. The shoes have been custom-made from models of the iconic R5 Turbo from the 80s, and a pair will be developed in partnership with the community in the coming days.

A few months after the launch of its very first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT), Renault is at it again, unveiling a second drop called “RACING SHOE5”, taking technological innovation one step further.

This time, the French carmaker is issuing a limited edition of 960 pairs of digital sneakers, giving access to the physical pairs and their NFT, which acts as a certificate of authenticity for the holder, accessible by scanning an NFC chip concealed in the tongue of the shoe.

In keeping with the automotive theme, these pairs of shoes have been customised and designed around 5 models of the Renault 5 Turbo, the brand’s flagship sports model from the 80’s.

In addition, a 6th model has been designed in partnership with the Renault community as a tribute to the R5 Turbo 3E concept car, a 100% electric vehicle developed for the 50th anniversary of the original model.

The different pairs, all accompanied by their respective 2 NFTs, represent the design of the car models. The rear slope of the model represents the car’s chassis, the interior the upholstery and the laces the seatbelts.

These sneakers will soon be available for purchase, with the NFT version costing €265. Owners of NFTs from the first collection will be able to buy them from 15 May. The preview will open on 16 May and the public sale will open on 17 May.
