Polygon Studios hires former YouTube Gaming director as CEO

by Tim

Ryan Wyatt announced on Tuesday night that he was stepping down as global CEO of YouTube Gaming and is now the new CEO of Polygon Studios. It’s a great hire for the company, which is getting an expert in its field.

Ryan Wyatt, after YouTube Gaming, heading Polygon Studios

The news broke on Tuesday night on the Twitter account of YouTube Gaming’s global general manager. After 7 years of loyal service, February will be Ryan Wyatt’s last month at the famous video platform. He will now be the new CEO of Polygon Studios, a branch of the blockchain project dedicated to video games.

He will now take on a major role at Polygon Studios that should take the company to the next level:

“In my role at Polygon Studios, I will focus on growing the developer ecosystem through investment, marketing and developer support and bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3. “

What is Polygon Studios?

Ryan Wyatt’s arrival at Polygon Studios is a strong signal from the project that, in his words, it wishes to facilitate a home for digital culture.

That’s the whole ambition of the team behind Polygon’s parent sidechain (MATIC): to create an incubator to support crypto-gaming, metaverse and NFTs projects on its network. The main argument for the blockchain is its speed and low cost of use, which makes it perfectly suited to the world of video games.

The company also acts as a business angel. This was notably the case for the Forte project a few months ago, a company wishing to facilitate access to the blockchain for video game developers. In order to finance itself, it has completed a round of financing of 725 million dollars and we find Polygon Studios in the list of investors.

Previously YouTube’s number 1 in gaming, Ryan Wyatt is therefore a choice aligned with the company’s objectives. And if his involvement is as strong as it was during his last professional project, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be hearing from Polygon Studios again in the future.
