NGO Asmae now accepts cryptocurrency donations

by Patricia

Association Sœur Emmanuelle (ASMAE), a child relief NGO, is now accepting donations made in cryptocurrencies. In addition to doing a good deed, this support will allow you to take advantage of a tax deduction, which is not the case for all cryptocurrency donations.

ASMAE accepts cryptocurrency donations

The Sister Emmanuelle Association (ASMAE) said in a tweet that it is now accepting donations in cryptocurrencies.

ASMAE was created in 1980 by Sister Emmanuelle, a symbol of the cause of the underprivileged in France and also founder of the “Sister Emmanuelle Foundation” in Belgium. The Association Sœur Emmanuelle is specialised in child development and is recognised as a public utility.

A partnership with a French company

To make this initiative possible, the NGO has partnered with Zebitex, a cryptocurrency trading platform based in France. For the time being, donations can be made with the following cryptocurrencies:

  • Bitcoin (BTC);
  • Ethereum (ETH);
  • Tether (USDT) on the ERC20 network;
  • Dogecoin (DOGE);
  • Avalanche (AVAX);
  • Binance USD (BUSD) on the BEP20 network.

As with traditional donations, Sister Emmanuelle offers its donors a tax receipt once the donation has been converted into euros. To be eligible, you must reside on French territory and apply to the association before making your donation.

For its future donors, Asmae states on its donation page:

In honour of the most Rock and Roll nun, Asmae appeals to all forms of generosity and diversifies its means of support. Asmae is offering all cryptocurrency holders the opportunity to make a cryptodon.

Not an isolated initiative
Indeed, cryptocurrency donations are becoming commonplace. Other charities are now accepting them. Among them we can mention:

  • CARE, which works in over 100 countries to help people in need overcome humanitarian crises;
  • UNICEF, which is dedicated to improving and promoting the conditions of children around the world;
  • Foor for Life Global (FFL), which organises the distribution of vegetarian meals around the world;
  • American Liver Foundation (FAL), which works against liver disease;
  • Abeille de compagnie, a French association that fights against the extinction of bees by proposing that professionals and individuals adopt hives;
  • SOS Children’s Villages, which works in Africa to give children greater access to education.

This list is obviously not exhaustive and there is no doubt that more and more associations will accept donations in cryptocurrencies as they become more and more popular.

Be aware that to date, donations of digital assets to charities are not always tax deductible. In the case of ASMAE, the cryptocurrencies you donate are immediately converted into euros. This still allows you to benefit from tax deductions, notably thanks to the tax receipt that the association provides.
