Jack Dorsey continues to embark on a new career in the world of cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin (BTC). Known as the founder of Twitter, which he recently left, Dorsey has just announced that Block, the company he currently runs, is going into BTC mining.

Block to start mining Bitcoin (BTC)

About a month and a half ago, Jack Dorsey announced that he was leaving Twitter, while retaining the leadership of his other company, Square. There were rumours at the time that he wanted to move into Web 3.0.

A few days later, Square was renamed Block, further confirming Dorsey’s desire to do something concrete in cryptocurrencies and more specifically BTC.

Yesterday, Jack Dorsey finally announced that Block would get into Bitcoin mining. The announcement was made… on Twitter. It confirms a news story from October in which Block was already talking about eventually entering the mining industry.

What Bitcoin (BTC) mining will be offered by Block

Thomas Templeton, who heads Block’s hardware department, has clarified what BTC mining will look like at his company.

According to Templeton, BTC mining at Block will be affordable and low maintenance. This means that customers will have little maintenance to do on a daily basis for greater profitability. In addition, the equipment will be durable and will not need to be rebooted regularly.

To ensure the success of the project, Block will surround itself with a team of specialists including system engineers and ASIC mining hardware specialists. Finally, Jack Dorsey and Block want to reduce the energy footprint of mining.

In other words, the goal is to be able to use Proof-of-Work (PoW) like today, but with less energy consumption.

Jack Dorsey and Block are all about Bitcoin (BTC)

This announcement by Block is not really a surprise. Indeed, Jack Dorsey has been defending Bitcoin, and BTC alone, for several months now. Dorsey is a true Bitcoin maximalist and has no interest in other cryptocurrencies.

The former Twitter CEO also believes that Bitcoin will unite the world. Beyond his thoughts, we can only note the infatuation that Jack Dorsey has for BTC and that all his activity is now devoted to it.

We will now have to take a closer look at the official launch of BTC mining at Block. The future will tell us if Block will look beyond BTC as it does today.
