FTX case: Caroline Ellison to be released from prison in less than a month

by Michael

After being sentenced to two years in prison in the FTX case, Caroline Ellison will finally be released in January. What do we know about this?

Caroline Ellison will be released on January 21

On September 24, 2024, former Alameda Research executive Caroline Ellison was sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the FTX case.

At the time, Judge Lewis Kaplan said he was convinced she would never reoffend, noting that he had found no factual errors or inconsistencies in her statements. However, he also refused to allow her assistance in clearing up the financial scandal surrounding the case to serve as a “get out of jail free card.”

Despite everything, it seems that she will not serve her full sentence, as the Federal Bureau of Prisons file indicates a release date of January 21, 2026:

In less than a month, Caroline Ellison will be released from the New York Residential Reentry Management facility. Although she has served just over half of her sentence, this early release is likely due to good behavior.

A few days ago, we also reported on the former Alameda Research executive’s agreement to a ban on “serving as an officer or director for ten years.”
