Bitcoin (BTC) capitalization once again surpasses Tesla’s

In the wake of the current surge in cryptocurrency prices, Bitcoin’s (BTC) capitalization has again overtaken that of Tesla shares. Let’s take a closer look at these figures.

Tesla share capitalization gives way to Bitcoin share capitalization

While it doesn’t necessarily make sense to compare two assets that have nothing in common, it is sometimes interesting to study the size of different capitalizations to judge their weight in finance in general. During the previous bull run, we saw Bitcoin (BTC) overtake the shares of famous companies, including Tesla, which was overtaken again during the current bull run.

With a market capitalization of around $717 billion at the time of writing, the stock sits between the valuations of shares in Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett’s famous fund, and Tesla. These are valued at $755 billion and $706 billion respectively:

To put itself in a better position in the above ranking, Ethereum ETH is in 44th place with its capitalization of almost $230 billion, just ahead of Alibaba and its $221 billion.

In terms of the total capitalization of the cryptocurrency market, the current $1,428 billion would be placed just behind Amazon, whose sum of shares is valued at $1,468 billion.

Once again, while all these figures in no way constitute a pertinent analysis of the market’s health, they do provide a measure of the weight of the crypto ecosystem as a whole. For example, the total capitalization of the S&P 500 index is estimated at nearly $36,700 billion, according to Slickcharts data.

Whatever the sustainability of the current trend, this shows the room for progress not only for Bitcoin, but for cryptocurrencies as a whole, testifying to the fact that we’re still in the early stages of this industry.
