AMC Theatres Now Accept Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) Payments

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment, has announced that his theatres will now support Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). The two memecoins join Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies that were already accepted by AMC as an online payment method.

Dogecoin and Shiba Inu as AMC’s ticket to entry

AMC Entertainment, the world’s largest movie theater chain with more than 970 theaters worldwide, is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) as payment methods on its website.

The information came directly from the Twitter account of Adam Aron, AMC’s CEO:

” Your answers may well break the internet, given your obvious enthusiasm and interest in cryptocurrencies. As promised, the AMC Theatres website now accepts Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for online payments! Special mention to BitPay who helped us make this possible. “

AMC, which had initially opened up to Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) already thanks to BitPay, will now support DOGE and SHIB.

However, this is hardly surprising news as Adam Eron had already published a poll on his Twitter account last October to gauge public interest in supporting DOGE for his cinemas. With over 81% of the 153,000 total votes cast being ‘Yes’, it was clear that the theatre chain was going to look into the matter.

AMC will probably not stop there. Indeed, the company announced that it wanted to create its own cryptocurrency last October, just a month before releasing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in partnership with Sony for the release of the movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
