The recently published Epstein files contain an email relaying a controversial article: Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s downfall was allegedly triggered after he uncovered the possible disappearance of gold stored at Fort Knox. This hypothesis remains unproven, but has been revived by this strange digital trail.
Was Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s downfall orchestrated by Epstein in response to a discovery about the Fort Knox reserves?
The Epstein files continue to reveal information about many influential figures and organizations in finance, technology, and geopolitics. Emails dated from 2011 to 2017 reveal the billionaire’s links to influential figures in the Bitcoin ecosystem, such as Adam Back and Michael Saylor.
They reveal discussions about the development of cryptocurrencies, exchanges with Bitcoin Core developers, and even direct references to his contacts with the “founders” of Bitcoin. More broadly, these files highlight Epstein’s involvement in almost every sector of the economy, from Bitcoin to banking and even the US gold reserves.
In the new Epstein files published a few weeks ago, former International Monetary Fund president Dominique Strauss-Kahn is mentioned several times.
It appears that Jeffrey Epstein and some of his contacts were following the DSK trial. Internet users even found an email received by the billionaire, relaying an article linking Strauss-Kahn’s arrest to a discovery concerning US gold reserves.

This article, published in June 2011 by the now-defunct media outlet The European Union Times, claims that Strauss-Kahn, then president of the IMF and frontrunner in the Socialist primary, was not arrested for sexual assault, but for getting his hands on information questioning the composition of Fort Knox’s gold reserves.
The site, known for its conspiracy theories, offers no verifiable evidence. However, the fact that this article was found in the Epstein files, along with other exchanges relating to the case, has reignited suspicions about the theory.
Would Epstein’s contacts really have sent him this document if the theory were completely unfounded?
As a reminder, Elon Musk, during his time in government with his DOGE office, announced that he had visited Fort Knox to conduct an audit of the gold reserves. Since his visit, no information has been released about his findings.
What does the European Union Times theory say?
It all began with a report from the Russian secret services, submitted to Vladimir Putin, claiming that the US gold reserves were either non-existent or consisted of fake bars.
As president of the IMF, Strauss-Kahn was in regular contact with various countries. One of the few to call for an audit of the Fort Knox reserves, DSK is said to have begun to harbor serious suspicions when the United States fell behind in delivering 191.3 tons of gold promised to the IMF.
According to this version, DSK shared his concerns with members of the Obama administration. Shortly thereafter, CIA agents allegedly provided him with evidence showing that the US gold had disappeared.
Strauss-Kahn then attempted to leave the United States discreetly, but was arrested en route.
The theory suggests that the sexual assault case involving Nafissatou Diallo, the Sofitel maid, was orchestrated to justify his arrest, without revealing the real reasons linked to Fort Knox.
There is no public and verifiable evidence to support this hypothesis. It should therefore be treated with caution. However, as not all of the Epstein files have yet been made public, some are suggesting the possibility of future revelations or, conversely, definitive censorship under the Trump administration.
