Thanks to his significant holdings in BNB, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) now has a fortune exceeding $70 billion. Where does this place him among the world’s wealthiest individuals?
How much is Changpeng Zhao worth?
In recent weeks, BNB has benefited greatly from the surge in cryptocurrencies, to the point that it has just reached a new all-time high of $860 per coin. In this context, the biggest beneficiary of this rise could be Changpeng Zhao, who, according to Forbes, held around 94 million BNB tokens in June 2024. Based on this amount, CZ’s fortune could be estimated at over $80 billion, depending on the price of BNB at the time of writing.
In any case, the official Forbes ranking currently lists Changpeng Zhao as the 23rd richest person in the world, with $71.2 billion:
With the exception of Satoshi Nakamoto, who does not appear in the official Forbes ranking, CZ is therefore the richest crypto personality in the world. Further down the ranking, in 96th place, we find Giancarlo Devasini, the CFO of Bitfinex and co-founder of Tether, with $22.4 billion. Next, Brian Armstrong, CEO and co-founder of Coinbase, completes the podium with $16.3 billion, earning him 153rd place in the billionaire rankings. Of course, all these figures should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is difficult to accurately estimate someone’s net worth.
As for Changpeng Zhao, while his stake in Binance and his BNB holdings through it certainly constitute the largest portion of his personal assets, it may be difficult to quantify the total value of his investments.
