1.6 million NFT: Dookey Dash’s unique key sold for ETH 1,000

After winning the competition for Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash game, streamer Mongraal sold the Golden Key, the NFT symbolizing first place, for the equivalent of $1.6 million.

Dookey Dash’s Golden Key sold for a crazy price

From January 18 to February 15, Yuga Labs offered a competition for members of the Bored Ape (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yach Club (MAYC), around a game called Dookey Dash.

The winner of this competition is an 18 year old Fortine streamer: Kyle Jackson, answering to the pseudonym of Mongraal :

This one won the “Golden Key”, a unique key in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT). Although the actual function of this key has not yet been fully revealed, the bidding has nevertheless gone wild.

Mongraal originally listed it for ETH 2,222, and received several attractive bids, including one for ETH 690 from UPDDAO. The streamer said he would accept if the bid was doubled, but in the end it was the offer from Adam Weitsman, CEO of a scrap metal recycling company, that was accepted.

The deal closed last night for ETH 1,000, or more than $1.6 million at the current price:

Yuga Labs on all fronts

It’s common to see NFTs from various Yuga Labs collections trading at remarkably high prices. In May 2022, for example, it was n0b0dy.eth that bought a piece of land from the Otherside metaverse for 625 ETH, also $1.6 million at the time. This land had the particularity of containing a unique artefact, and has not changed ownership since.

This collection is the fourth largest NFT, while the podium is occupied by BAYC, CryptoPunks and MAYC, all owned by YugaLabs.

To participate in the Dookey Dash game without a BAYC or MAYC, you had to have an NFT Sewer Pass, which sold for easily over 3 ETH during the opening dates of the competition.

Sewer Passes generated ETH 39,843 in volume at the time of writing, or nearly $64.6 million. With a 5% creative fee on OpenSea, we can therefore estimate YugaLabs’ revenue at $3.22 million on the secondary market of this collection alone.

Despite a bear market slowdown in the NFT market, Yuga Labs is showing that it can bring its community together, initiative after initiative.
