The GODS cryptocurrency, derived from the NFT game Gods Unchained, has just exploded in value following the arrival of the title on Epic Games. What does this mean for the future of blockchain games?
God Unchained’s GODS explode on the rise
Gods Unchained is a game whose cards are offered in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It is one of the most popular – and enduring – projects in the blockchain ecosystem. And it has just received a new boost, thanks to its arrival on the Epic Games marketplace. The Fortnite publisher has just made it available on its marketplace.
It’s a vote of confidence for the game, which has in turn seen the price of its cryptocurrency, GODS, soar. In the space of a day and a half, the crypto has risen by 60% :

The GODS price has fallen slightly since then, but is still at $0.16 this morning. As a reminder, Gods Unchained is built on Ethereum (ETH), and GODS is an ERC-20 token. Immutable, which publishes the game, has also launched its own layer 2 solution to streamline transactions.
New exhibition for Gods Unchained
Gods Unchained is now visible to the nearly 60 million active users of the Epic Games store. This move also has the advantage of bringing together ‘traditional’ games and blockchain games, which are still very separate in practice. What’s more, Gods Unchained offers gaming experiences without players initially needing to set up a crypto wallet, or handle cryptocurrencies. This is therefore a potential factor of adoption for players not initiated to cryptocurrencies.
Gods Unchained executive producer Daniel Paez confirms that the game could reach a new audience:
“We’re extremely excited to bring our game to a completely new and really massive audience of traditional PC gamers, as well as those who love the trading card game. It’s a natural continuation of our journey. “
As the video game industry still sometimes views the crypto gaming sector with hostility. Gamers scalded by the microtransactions now common in this ecosystem view with suspicion titles that are based on economic systems, however innovative they may be. That’s what Gods Unchained is all about. The game will also soon have a mobile version on iOS and Android, which could also encourage its adoption.
