The Winklevoss brothers affirm their support for Donald Trump

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, the two entrepreneurs behind the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, announced Thursday evening that they had each donated $1 million in Bitcoin (BTC) to former president and candidate Donald Trump. With this gesture, the twins are affirming their support for the billionaire in his race for the White House against Joe Biden.

On X, Tyler Winklevoss posted a long message in which he was particularly critical of the current administration. He did not hesitate to use war rhetoric to describe the Biden administration’s policies, even going so far as to refer to the “militarization of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC):”

He goes on to compare the coercive actions against the crypto ecosystem to Operation Chokepoint, which saw a wave of crackdowns on banks accused of various frauds and illegal operations a decade ago. Tyler Winklevoss points the finger at government agencies:

The Biden administration has polluted the mission and corrupted the integrity of these agencies. All are run by unelected bureaucrats appointed by President Biden to carry out his marching orders. The moral compass of these foot soldiers is political gain, and their higher calling is political power.

In conclusion, the entrepreneur affirms his support for candidate Trump:

“President Donald J. Trump is the pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business choice. This issue is not even up for debate. Anyone who tells you otherwise is seriously misinformed, delusional, or not telling the truth. It’s time to take back our country. It’s time for the crypto army to send a message to Washington.”

With this endorsement, the Winklevoss twins become the first crypto executives to officially take sides in a presidential race by making a direct financial contribution. As the November 5 election approaches, it will be interesting to see which other players will follow suit.
