On December 15, Renault will take its first steps into Web3 with “genR5”, its very first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT) in reference to the Renault R5, its emblematic model from the 70s and 80s. At the same time, the Renault brand is launching “R3NLT”, its all-in-one Web3 platform, which is now a privileged place of interaction for car enthusiasts.
Renault unveils its genR5 NFT collection
This December 15, Renault will join the Web3 universe with its very first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT) named “genR5” in homage to its iconic Renault R5 of the 70s and 80s. For the occasion, the Renault brand will offer 1,972 NFTs, a number that pays tribute to the year the model was launched.
These 1,972 NFTs are presented in the form of a 3D video with an exclusive covering and dynamic visual and sound animations.
Thus, this collection will present the 4 mythical evolutions of the Renault R5:
- 100 electric R5s, the number of NFTs referring to the hundred or so produced between 1972 and 1974. A revolution for its time, the electric R5 will go down in history as a pioneer in its category;
- 160 Renault R5 Turbo, in homage to this model, now a symbol of Renault’s sportiness with its 160 horsepower;
- 450 R5 Le Car Van, as the number of examples of this limited edition car inspired by the American style of the time;
- And 1,262 R5 TL, symbolising the city car revolution.
These 4 NFT models will therefore be classified by level of rarity, and will be allocated randomly at the time of purchase. With this launch, Renault wishes to give everyone the opportunity to appropriate the Web3 since the acquisition of an NFT can be done as well in cryptocurrencies as in classic payment by bank card.
