Polygon (MATIC) teams will join Disney’s accelerator programme alongside five other projects, three of which are related to Web3. The latter will benefit from the entertainment giant’s expertise to accelerate their development
Polygon to benefit from Disney’s expertise
The sidechain Polygon will benefit from the “Disney Accelerator” program for its development. Indeed, the entertainment giant has announced the projects that would have the chance to benefit from a personalized support and we find several Web3 projects in the list

Disney’s initiative, through its accelerator, is to provide leverage to projects in the growth phase. The latter benefit from advice from the management team as well as a dedicated mentor. It’s a summer-long process that culminates in a demo day at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.
We don’t know to what extent Polygon’s projects may have a connection to Disney. However, there is a good chance that it will involve experiments around gaming, the metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFT). The Polygon Studio division does specialise in this part of our ecosystem.
This makes sense as Disney says that this year’s selection of projects is focused on augmented reality, artificial intelligence and NFTs.
The Walt Disney Company supports startups
Bonnie Rosen, managing director of the Disney Accelerator programme, expressed pride in the department she heads:
For nearly a century, Disney has been at the forefront of using technology to create the entertainment experiences of the future. The Disney Accelerator is thrilled to be part of that legacy, and with our new class of companies, we look forward to continuing our commitment to innovation […]. “
The programme has for example accompanied Epic Games in a previous session. In this class of 6 projects, we also find three other startups closely or distantly related to Web 3.0.
Obsess enables the creation of virtual shops in 3D. This is particularly applicable to the promotion of NFTs in the metaverse. FlickPlay allows the creation of immersive NFT experiences by linking them to real-world geographical locations. Finally, the Lockervese project is presented as a Web3 platform for content creators.
NTF and metaverse technologies are still in their infancy. However, the interest shown in them by players such as Disney is encouraging as regards the development potential of these innovations in the future.
