NFT: OpenSea Marketplace lands on Avalanche (AVAX)

by Patricia

The popular NFT platform OpenSea now supports the Avalanche ecosystem on its marketplace. In addition to this announcement, there are other indications that the number of blockchains available may be expanding further.

Avalanche’s NFTs are coming to OpenSea

Tuesday at the end of the day, OpeaSea made official its arrival on Avalanche (AVAX). The famous marketplace becomes the main platform for non-fungible tokens (NFT) of the network:

Thus, the major collections are now listed on OpenSea, although NFT activity on Avalanche is still far from rivaling that of Ethereum (ETH) and its successful collections, such as CryptoPunks or Bored Apes Yatch Club (BAYC).

Indeed, over the last seven days, the five collections with the most activity totalled a volume equivalent to almost $74,000. In comparison, the Bored Apes alone have achieved nearly $700,000 in volume over the past 24 hours.

Nevertheless, it is quite likely that now that OpenSea supports Avalanche, network activity will grow naturally.

A platform with a multi-channel strategy

In order to have a maximum of cards in hand for the future, OpenSea regularly announces new blockchain additions to its platform. This was recently the case for layer 2 Optimism. In addition to the latter, the NFT marketplace is present on the following networks:

  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Solana (SOL);
  • Arbitrum ;
  • Avalanche (AVAX);
  • Polygon (MATIC) ;
  • Klaytn (KLAY).

In addition, OpenSea revealed that new blockchains would be coming to the platform. In addition to the latest announcement, we could also speculate on potential support for the NBB Smart Chain soon.

And for good reason, although nothing is official yet, OpenSea’s multi-sig address, which has deployed the Seaport protocol on the various existing networks, has also been active on the NBB Smart Chain for two months now:

If we look at the type of functions used in the transactions, we can see that this is very similar to what was done on Avalanche before the announcement. Furthermore, the dates show that these transactions were done almost simultaneously for both networks. So it would almost make sense to see an announcement coming soon.

Beyond the new blockchains, OpenSea is also diversifying in terms of languages. Indeed, in addition to English, here is what to expect in the weeks and months to come:

  • Traditional and simplified Chinese;
  • Japanese;
  • Korean ;
  • French;
  • German;
  • Spanish.

With all these new features, already unveiled or to come, OpenSea is doing a great deal of work to develop the NFT ecosystem and make it more accessible to all, while consolidating its position as market leader.
