Elon Musk is getting into the artificial intelligence (AI) game with his new startup called “X.AI”

Famous entrepreneur Elon Musk has launched a new company called X.AI to develop his own artificial intelligence (AI) model. AI engineers have been hired, including Igor Babuschkin and Manuel Kroiss, both of whom came from Google’s DeepMind. Musk would also have begun discussions with investors from SpaceX and Tesla to finance his new project.

Elon Musk is developing his own artificial intelligence (AI) model

Elon Musk is currently working on the development of his latest company X.AI, launched on March 9 in Nevada, in order to enter the race for artificial intelligence (AI) currently led by OpenAI, a company that the billionaire is also at the origin.

Indeed, OpenAI – which develops the now inescapable ChatGPT, was co-founded by Elon Musk and Sam Altman in 2015, originally for purely non-profit purposes. Following a disagreement between the executives, Elon Musk would leave the company in 2018, and the company would move to a capped for-profit model a year later, which he would later call a betrayal of the original goal.

Currently, OpenAI is valued at $29 billion, as a result of the success of ChatGPT and the various contributions made by Microsoft to the company.

Thus, Elon Musk has finally decided to get back into the AI race and has already hired a few engineers specialized in the field, including Igor Babuschkin and Manuel Kroiss, both of whom have worked for DeepMind, a company specialized in artificial intelligence and owned by the giant Google since 2014.

According to the Financial Times, Elon Musk is in talks with various investors from SpaceX and Tesla so that they take shares in X.AI. An information revealed by a person who wished to remain anonymous, who adds that “a number of people are investing in this project, it is a reality and they are very enthusiastic about it”.

Artificial intelligence sauce Elon Musk?

Although many artificial intelligence models are currently being developed at a phenomenal speed, it is interesting to imagine what an AI whose structure has been developed by Elon Musk could look like.

Indeed, in December, the billionaire and owner of Twitter – which he recently renamed X Corp. – had criticized the “woke” angle (a term attributed to a certain fringe of the left-wing political spectrum) with which the AI treated what was asked of it, in response to a tweet from Sam Altman:

“The danger of teaching AI to be woke – in other words, to lie – is deadly. “

To carry out this new project, Elon Musk recently purchased about 10,000 very powerful graphics cards (GPUs) from the manufacturer Nvidia. Now a must in the AI sector, modern GPUs are quite suitable for the deep learning system and can perform a very large number of calculations.

It will be interesting to see how Elon Musk’s AI will be developed. He is the head of SpaceX, The Boring Company, Tesla and Neuralink, among others. Indeed, the billionaire had recently signed a petition to suspend the development of artificial intelligence for some time.
