Several major central banks will announce their monetary policy decisions this week, as the G7 summit gets underway. On the cryptocurrency front, a major conference is taking place in Prague and Solana spot ETFs appear to be on track for approval. Here’s a rundown of what you need to know this week.
Monday, June 16 – G7 meeting, Chinese industrial production
The G7 leaders’ summit has been underway in Kananaskis, Alberta, since Sunday. The summit will continue until June 17.
Several macroeconomic data releases are also scheduled for today: China will publish its industrial production and retail sales figures for May. The eurozone will publish its first-quarter labor cost indicator, while in the US, the Federal Reserve’s manufacturing survey for June will be released.
In the crypto world, Arbitrum is set to unlock $30 million worth of ARB tokens.
Tuesday, June 17 – Bank of Japan decision, APE & ZK unlock
This Tuesday, Japan will announce its monetary policy decision. The interest rate is expected to remain at 0.5%.
In the US, several indicators will be released: retail sales, foreign trade prices and industrial production for May, against the backdrop of the trade war. It will also be the first day of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy committee meeting, which will run until the following day.
Two unlocks are also worth watching on Tuesday: Apecoin, the cryptocurrency of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), will release $10 million worth of APE tokens. As for the ZKSync cryptocurrency, it will release $39 million worth of ZK tokens.
Wednesday, June 18 – UK inflation, US monetary policy Sweden & Brazil
This Wednesday, the US will announce its monetary policy decision, with Donald Trump calling for a rate cut. However, Jerome Powell may continue to resist. Sweden and Brazil will also announce their monetary policy decisions.
In addition, May inflation figures will be released in the UK. Inflation stood at 3.5% year-on-year in April.
Thursday, June 19 – Bank of England decision, Wall Street closed
Thursday, June 19, is a public holiday in the United States. US stock markets will therefore be closed on that day.
In the world of cryptocurrencies, the BTC Prague 2025 conference is taking place in the Czech Republic until June 21. Several crypto figures are expected to attend, including Michael Saylor (Strategy) and Adam Back (BlockStream).
The series of central bank decisions continues with the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway. In France, we will find out how many new businesses were created in May.
Friday, June 20 – Business climate in France, economic bulletin for the eurozone
Several economic indicators will be published in France on Friday. We will see figures for salaried employment and basic wages, the business climate, the price of imported energy and raw materials in May, and retail sales for May.
In the eurozone, the economic bulletin will be published on the same day, along with the consumer confidence index for June. Japan will also announce its inflation figures for May. Finally, the United States will publish its Philadelphia Federal Reserve manufacturing survey.
