Brave’s wallet now supports the Solana blockchain (SOL)

Brave’s digital wallet now incorporates the Solana (SOL) blockchain into its functionality. The company is also looking to give its BAT token greater utility through a partnership with NFTs platform Magic Eden.

Solana ecosystem coming to Brave

The native wallet of the Brave web browser, now allows the use of the Solana blockchain (SOL). This new feature, which arrived this Monday with version 1.39, takes the Web3 and privacy-focused browser a step further:

Thanks to the integration of Ramp, it is also possible to buy SOL directly from the digital wallet.

Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana’s co-founder, sees this update as a further step in the democratisation of the ecosystem. For his part, Brendan Eich, the CEO and co-founder of Brave, also expressed a similar opinion:

As the leading Web3 browser, Brave now provides integration with Solana’s blockchain so that users and developers can transact seamlessly on their fast and inexpensive network. We also look forward to supporting dApps in a future release to leverage Solana’s growing […] ecosystem. “

BAT to buy NFTs

While Brave’s BAT token offers little functionality, the founding team intends to change that. This latest implementation allows, as a first step, to use the BAT on Solana thanks to the Wormhole bridge. In addition, a partnership has been concluded with the non-fungible token (NFT) platform Magic Eden.

Indeed, users of the Brave wallet will soon be able to buy NFTs on the platform with this token, as pointed out by Sidney Zhang, the founder of Magic Eden:

“By allowing them to trade NFTs on Magic Eden with BAT, we are able to unlock a new use for the token for Brave’s crypto-native audience in Solana’s NFTs. “

Of course, these new elements are not enough to guarantee concrete added value to BAT, but they are nevertheless a sign of the company’s willingness to evolve its product in a market where competition is sustained.
