Propelled by Block, a company co-founded by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, the hardaware wallet saw a few beta versions shipped last autumn, while pre-orders started in earnest in December in around 100 countries.
The product is designed to be simple to use, using MPC technology rather than a seed phrase to secure the private key, and focuses solely on Bitcoin (BTC). It also features integrations with Coinbase and Cash App.
In addition, the Bitkey hardware wallet comes with a mobile application, to which it can be connected via NFC. When downloading this application, be sure to download the one offered by Block Inc. or go directly to the company’s official website to avoid downloading a fraudulent application.
The price is 145 euros, excluding tax and delivery. Including these, the price is 197.49 euros for delivery to France :

So, it’s more expensive than competing brands like Ledger, and focuses only on Bitcoin (BTC). Nevertheless, it’s also worth pointing out that there are no additional fees, whereas at Ledger you have to pay an additional monthly subscription fee to have access to private key security via MPC technology.
So, over time, we’ll be able to see whether this new product finds its audience, thanks to a value proposition that could particularly appeal to “Bitcoin maximalists”.
