Camila Russo, author of The Infinite Machine, telling the story of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, has confirmed that a film will be produced to adapt the book to the cinema. Ridley Scott, who is responsible for Gladiator, Alien, and Alone on Mars, has joined the project.

Shyam Madiraju will write the film and Scott Free Productions has joined the production.
The company was founded in 1995 by Ridley Scott, the director behind Alien and Gladiator. More recently, we can also mention Seul sur Mars with Matt Damon or The House of Gucci with Lady Gaga.
Ridley Scott’s production company has 100 Emmy nominations and 22 wins.
This is not the first time a film project has dealt with cryptocurrency as a subject. For example, an independent documentary on Ethereum is also in production. Nevertheless, this announcement is probably the most ambitious to date and the one that will reach the most people.
An adaptation of a best-selling book
The film will be based on the book The Infinite Machine, published in 2020 by HarperCollins. Written by Camila Russo, she is the founder of the crypto media The Defiant. Before devoting herself fully to the blockchain universe, she was a journalist for 7 years at Bloomberg, until 2019.
The book tells the story of how Vitalik Buterin was able to convince, at the age of 19, a whole team to found with him, what is today the second most capitalised cryptocurrency on the market, thanks to the revolutionary technology of smart contracts.
Camila Russo spoke out about the big screen adaptation:

The project is still in its early stages, so there is no timetable for production or casting information at this time. But there is no doubt that a film about Ethereum, produced with such a team, could give a huge boost to our ecosystem.
