In the wake of a further decline in BTC, the value of assets under management in Bitcoin ETFs fell to $97 billion on Tuesday. Let’s take a closer look at this decline, which has now been ongoing for several months.
Bitcoin ETFs fall below $100 billion in assets under management
On Tuesday, the price of BTC recorded another downward trend, falling to $72,900, a level not seen since Donald Trump’s election in November 2024.
In the wake of this decline, US spot Bitcoin ETFs also took a hit, now posting $97.01 billion in assets under management. In addition to the fact that this drop below $100 billion is highly symbolic, it is also the lowest level since April 17, 2025:

Yesterday, we reported that 60% of Bitcoin ETF purchases were at a loss. This also comes in a context where January was the third month with the most outflows in the history of these funds, with $1.61 billion in cumulative outflows, after December and November recorded $1.09 billion and $3.48 billion in outflows, respectively.
At the same time, last week and the week before were also the second and third worst weeks for ETFs, with $1.49 billion and $1.33 billion in outflows. More broadly, two parameters influence the evolution of the value of assets under management by these ETFs, namely the price of the underlying asset and the total inflows and outflows.
In this case, Tuesday saw “only” $272.02 million in outflows, which is relatively low compared to what we have seen in the past. However, the fall in the price of BTC caused AUM to drop from $100.38 billion to the current $97.01 billion.
In fact, it may be interesting to compare daily inflows and outflows in order to detect any discrepancies with the evolution of AUM, as this could indicate whether an increase or decrease is coming from the institutional sector.
On this point, the data certainly suggests that the decline is coming from elsewhere overall, but in general, the figures for the last few weeks clearly show that the capital flight from ETFs is following the current bear market.
At the time of writing, the price of a bitcoin is $76,400, down 2.55% over the last 24 hours.
